The work of Peace and Justice is founded on and continually inspired by Catholic Social Teaching in that it refers to all church teaching that specifically addresses the public, social lives of Catholic persons. The principles are rooted in education and concrete action in order to actively build a society based on our Catholic values.
The church highlights seven key themes that recur frequently in Catholic Social Teaching. These themes, or tenets, draw attention to the key areas encompassed by Social Teaching. These themes are: The Life and Dignity of the Human Person, The Call to Family, Community, and Participation, Rights and Responsibilities, The Option for the Poor and Vulnerable, The Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers, Solidarity, and Care for Creation.
